This was our first meal in New York, and biting into that wurst was the exact moment in which I realized we’ve left the swamp behind. Nothing beats Curry Wurst and Sauerkraut from the Saturday morning street market close to Times Square. Inner city roads are closed for the day to make way for huge pedestrian zones filled with people and fabulous food. Having this type of thing for breakfast reminded me of my days in Germany decades ago when I was young, childless and still able to party through the night and not feel it – and having something with German Curry Sauce for breakfast…it’s a great hangover cure. And a good sign that the food scene was about to change for the better. Gott sei Dank.
